Critical Technology Services
A retail technology back-office and stockroom with point-of-sale terminals and networking hardware on shelving being refreshed.
INDUSTRY

Retail (multi-location).

POS refresh. Store-closure deinstall. PCI Level 1 chain of custody across hundreds of sites.

Two IT technicians decommissioning a server rack in a data center, unplugging cables and sliding out servers under navy-blue light.
THE RETAIL PROBLEM

Hundreds of sites, all on their own clock.

Retail IT runs across hundreds of sites that all refresh, relocate, and close on their own schedule. CTS handles the deploy-to-dispose lifecycle for every one of them under a single contract and a single chain of custody, so a store opening in one region and a store closing in another are the same documented process.

WHAT WE HANDLE

Built for multi-location retail.

POS and back-office refresh

Registers, scanners, tablets, and back-office PCs cycle on different clocks across hundreds of stores. We image, kit, and ship to each location, and retrieve the old gear on the same visit.

Store-closure deinstall

When a location closes, we pull the hardware, wipe or shred the data, and recover residual value, with a serial-level chain of custody for every device that leaves the floor.

PCI-grade data handling

Payment terminals and anything that touched cardholder data are sanitized to NIST 800-88 with a certificate of destruction per serial number, the evidence a PCI assessor expects.

One report across every site

Inventory, disposition, and ESG metrics for all locations roll up into your client portal, so the chain of custody is one report, not a folder per store.

Learn how we handle multi-site rollouts and retirements through our IT equipment disposal services and nationwide hard drive shredding.

FAQ

Retail ITAD questions we get a lot.

01

How do you handle PCI-DSS requirements for payment terminals?

Payment terminals and anything that touched cardholder data are sanitized to NIST 800-88 with a certificate of destruction per serial number. That per-serial evidence is what a PCI assessor expects to see when payment gear is retired.
02

Can you coordinate pickups across hundreds of store locations?

Yes. We offer national coverage and multi-site pickups, so registers, scanners, tablets, and back-office PCs across every store run under a single contract and a single chain of custody rather than a folder per site.
03

What happens during a store-closure deinstall?

When a location closes, we pull the hardware, wipe or shred the data, and recover residual value, tracking every device by serial number from the floor to final disposition and returning any resale value to you.
04

Do you provide a certificate of destruction per serial number?

Yes. Each drive or terminal we wipe or shred gets its own certificate tied to the serial number, so your audit trail maps to individual assets instead of a single bulk statement.
05

Is CTS R2v3 certified?

Yes. CTS is an R2v3-certified IT asset disposition operator and also holds ISO 14001, 9001, and 45001. Data is destroyed to NIST 800-88, with physical shredding to under 2mm when destruction is required.
06

Do you also handle new-store deployment, not just disposal?

Yes. We run the full deploy-to-dispose lifecycle: imaging, kitting, and shipping to each location on a store opening, and retrieval, data destruction, and value recovery on a store closing, both under the same documented chain of custody.
